Majolica Bowl Made for Tiffany and Company
This beautiful majolica bowl was made in Italy for Tiffany and Company. The red clay was covered in a white tin glaze and then hand painted with a floral design in an Imari palette of cobalt blue and iron red. The hand formed, applied handle on each side was painted in shades of blue. The bottom has a dry foot ring that reveals the clay color and is hand signed in iron red: "HAND PAINTED FOR TIFFANY & CO. IN ITALY."
The bowl is in superb condition with no damage, no stains, no crazing. It measures 6 1/4 inches from handle to handle, 2 1/2 inches high and weighs 13 ounces. It's a lovely bowl to use or simply display and admire.
A gorgeous bone china piece, this lidded vase was made by the famous firm of Coalport in England. The overall pattern of birds and flowers has hand painted details in the Imari palette of iron red and cobalt blue against the pure white bone china. It's marked on the bottom, stamped in red, with the Coalport logo and the pattern name "HONG KONG."
The vase itself is 8 1/8 inches tall; with the lid on it's 11 inches tall to the top of the knop. The mouth opening is 3 1/2 inches across while the base is 4 inches is in diameter. About 6 inches across at the shoulder, the circumference there is 19 inches.
The vase and lid together weigh 2 pounds and both are in outstanding condition with no wear or damages. The level of quality and beauty of this bone china piece is exactly what Coalport always achieves.
