Studio Pottery Bowl and Tray Florida Ceramicist Gene Gandee

Winter Park, Florida studio potter R. Gene Gandee studied Fine Arts at the University of South Florida. He was a prominent potter at the Village Pottery at Walt Disney World Village during the early 1980's. Village Pottery gave guests the opportunity to watch artisans like Gene Gandee create handmade wares.

All of Gene Gandee's pottery is hand-built with slabs of porcelain clay and wheel-thrown. This beautiful, functional tray and bowl set features high quality, glossy glazes in two-tone seafoam green and beige with touches of royal blue and plum. Both pieces are stamped GANDEE into the clay on the bottom and also hand signed in the center. 

The round bowl has a chunky curved handle on each side and a slightly flared rim. It's 8 1/4 inches wide measured handle to handle with a 3 3/4 inch base diameter and a 4 1/4 inch mouth opening. It's 6 inches tall and weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces. The rectangular tray has upright, curved handles and is raised on a base rather than being flat. It's 14 inches long handle to handle and 8 1/2 inches front to back. It stands 1 1/4 inches high and weighs 3 lbs. 3 ounces. Together the pieces weigh 5 pounds 7 ounces. 

Both of these useful and decorative porcelain pieces are in pristine condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, etc.---in short, no damage at all. Display them, use them and enjoy them for many years to come, knowing that Gene Gandee's signed pieces are highly collectible.
