Details

This 1960's vase comes from the Rocky Mountain Pottery Company (ROMCO) in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1953 by Leland and Marj Huston, they became well-known for their pine-scented pottery pieces but also made this line of pebble glazed art pottery. The company was sold in 1981 and Leland passed away in 1986.

The amoeba shape of this vase is iconic mid-century modern. The interior is glazed in pure white, while the exterior is covered in a pebbled lava one, white dribbles over a sparkly gold background.

The bottom is covered in gold and bears the raised model number 224, along with the penciled original price of $2.98. The original Rocky Mountain Pottery paper label is on the inside of the vase.

The vase measures 6 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide at the widest point. It weighs 1 3/4 pounds and is in like-new condition; it appears to be unused and probably stored and/or carefully displayed for the last 60+ years.
