Studio Pottery Bottle Vase By Loretta Cohn

Vintage
US$99.00
Item number: 4205

This fascinating segmented, seamed bottle vase was made in the 1970's by Loretta Cohn, an innovative, talented studio potter working and exhibiting in Michigan. The red clay bottle is ornamented with 2 half-round handles, a single molded flower and textured, tactile surfaces. It's topped with a cork in its mouth that sports a metal chain that loops down through the handles. Washed with a white glaze, it was then colored with taupe and brown. The dry foot is impressed with Ms. Cohn's printed signature and felted with 3 round pads to protect surfaces.

In our research, we found and purchased a March, 1973 issue of Ceramics Monthly magazine that contains a 2 page article by Loretta Cohn, explaining how she makes her pottery, complete with photos. We'll include that magazine with this bottle vase. This piece of art pottery is a little over 12 inches tall, about 4 inches in diameter and weighs 2 1/4 pounds. It's in pristine condition and a treasure for the discerning pottery collector.
