Oil Painting Still Life on Wood Panel by Lynn Ruth Miller
This striking oil painting, done on a wooden board, is an original artwork signed lower right "LYNN," the signature of artist and book author Lynn Ruth Miller (1933-2021). Ms. Miller was also a well-known stand-up comedian, who started doing stage comedy at the age of 70; we've included a photo of her at one of her performances. An accompanying card from the artist states that the painting was done in oil, is titled "Apples and Lemons" and had an original price of $175.00. The red apples in the blue and white footed bowl, the lemons piled on a green dish and the espresso in the green cup and saucer are all arranged against a black background that makes the colors even more vivid.
The painting on panel measures 14 1/4 inches tall by 19 3/4 inches wide and 3/4 of an inch thick. It weighs about 3 1/2 pounds and it's in very good condition. The reverse is painted off-white and has the words "measured Nov. 4/93" written on it (with measurements that are approximately the same as the actual ones). The piece has no hanging hardware, so our photos show three possibilities for displaying it: propping it on a shelf, hanging it on the wall after attaching hardware or framing it. It's a perfect artwork for a kitchen, since the oil paints allow it to be gently wiped off with a damp cloth. Any way and anywhere that it's displayed, it's beautiful.
