Smallmouth Bass Ice Fishing Decoy by Steve Robbins Limited Series

$345.00

This wooden small mouth bass with its metal fins was carved and painted by Steve Robbins (1947-), owner of The Fish Decoy Company in Clifton, Ohio. It's a full working ice fishing decoy, weighted and balanced, but has been used only for display over the last 31 years. This is #7 of the series, hand painted and hand signed on the bottom "S. Robbins 95 # 7 of 10."

The decoy came nestled in clean wood shavings in a meticulously handmade balsa wood box, the sliding lid of which is decorated with an excellent drawing of a fish decoy. In addition, there is a small wood stand for the decoy and a paper leaflet describing Steve's limited series decoys. There are two small metal loops at the top of the fish for a line that allows the decoy to hang horizontally and swim in circles to attract fish for spearing.

The box measures 9 3/4 inches in length, 4 inches front to back and 4 inches tall. The bass is 8 inches long and about 2 1/2 tall to the top of the dorsal fin. Everything is in excellent condition, with the decoy having some tiny scratches, probably from being moved while in the box. Not objectionable or obvious, but we mention them for accuracy.

This hard-to-find limited series complete set is great for the decoy collector, whether adding to their collection or beginning one.
