Native American Long Hair Kachina Carving
The only Long Hair Kachina doll we've had that is carrying a carved and painted drum, this Hopi cottonwood carving of a male spirit was created and signed by Brian S. and dated 2002. The 12 inch tall Katsina, known in the Hopi tradition as Angak’china, wears the traditional Hopi long, flowing hairstyle and beard, which symbolically represent falling rain.
Beautifully carved and expertly painted with many intricate symbols that include lightning and rain, this Long Hair Kachina is in excellent condition, appearing like new with no damage. It stands firmly on its 3 1/2 inch wide base, which is hand-signed with "Brian S. Long Hair K. {Kachina} 2002. " It's a striking addition to a collection and can stand alone as a handsome Native American sculptural piece wherever it's placed.
