Based in Portland, Oregon, Margaret Van Patten is a printmaker who uses intaglio techniques to create her unique prints. Number seven of a small limited edition of eight, this is one of her more complex ones, very rich in symbolism (note, for instance, the hands holding a bird against a frayed piece of black fabric). An alumnus of Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she obtained her BFA in printmaking, Ms. Van Patten has had her works exhibited in numerous invitational, juried art shows. Her art hangs in museums and in collections both private and corporate. The artist noted the impression number and the number of prints in the edition in pencil lower left on the margin. It's titled "Observing Memory" at center lower margin and pencil signed lower right "Margaret Van Patten." The wooden frame measures 3/4 of an inch wide and 1 1/4 inches deep, with a rich cherry stain. It's very nearly square, measuring 26 1/8 inches wide and 26 1/2 inches top to bottom. The print size, including margins, is 18 3/4 by 19 inches and is surrounded by a pale mat with definite pinkish tones (it does not photograph that way, but it is there and very complementary to the colors in the print.) The artwork weighs eight pounds and is in excellent condition including the glass and the dust paper on the reverse. There is a sturdy hanging wire installed, so this fascinating, mysterious artwork is ready to hang and admire. PLEASE NOTE: Shipping is included for this item in the contiguous 48 states only. © PrimpingYourHome.com Visit our website at https://www.primpingyourhome.com/ PYH 4766
