folk-art-massachusetts-artist-diane-ulmer-pedersen-framed-print
Folk Art Massachusetts Artist Diane Ulmer Pedersen Framed Print

This large print titled "From Sarah's Garden" is from an original oil painting by Diane Ulmer Pedersen. Well-known since the 1970's for her folk art paintings and prints, Mrs. Pedersen is based in Sterling, Massachusetts. In addition to her artworks being sold in specialty shops and exhibited in galleries, they have been regularly selected
for the Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts, a prestigious annual listing of master artisans who recreate historically accurate, period-appropriate furnishings and decor from colonial times through the mid-19th century. We've included a photo of Mrs. Pedersen from her website.

This large print depicts a footed bowl filled with flowers "From Sarah's Garden" set on a checkered cloth. The original painting was done in layers of acrylics with a crackled finish from applied glazes, and the craquelure is evident on the print. It's signed on the original bottom right "Diane Ulmer Pedersen 98."

We love the unusual 2 1/4 inch wide wooden frame that's painted in a wonderful shade of red that perfectly complements the colors of the flowers and berries in the print. It was lightly distressed and then topped with a faint "antique" glaze. What's unusual about it is the stepped ledge at the bottom, which allows it to easily stand on a tabletop or shelf. It does have a sawtooth hanger on the back, but given its weight of 5 pounds, 11 ounces, a sturdy wire hanger would be best if you want to hang it. There is an identical ledge at the top that balances the composition.

The frame bears a hangtag on the back from Country Curtains where it was purchased in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, housed inside the historic Red Lion Inn building.⍟ The length at top and bottom is 25 inches, it's 21 inches tall and the print size 15 inches by 19 1/2 inches. It's in excellent condition with frame, glass, dust paper and print all intact and undamaged, the colors fresh and bright, a very eye-catching piece of folk art.

⍟ We feel so fortunate to have visited Country Curtains in the beautiful Inn they restored, originally built in 1773. The business closed years later in 2017. The Inn was painted by Norman Rockwell, who lived in Stockbridge. We've included a photo of that painting (next to last photo). Rockwell's studio is to the right of the Inn.

© PrimpingYourHome.com

PYH 5858

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0721/9101/7147/files/DIANEULMERPEDERSENPrintFramedFolkArtMassachusettsArtist-full-front-hung-in-country-kitchen-1351x1164.jpg?v=1782594121
https://www.primpingyourhome.com/products/folk-art-massachusetts-artist-diane-ulmer-pedersen-framed-print
